A Lesson to Learn in Emergency Ward

During the Survival camp, a friend and i send a few members to the emergency ward. They suffered allergies and need medications. The friend of mine is a medical assistant by profession.

The story goes like this:

A medical assistant check on the members and ask some questions before giving medication. My friend ask the working MA what medicine are given to the members. Well, the MA turned to look at him and say, "Saya beritau lu apa ubat ini lu pun tidak tau". My friend look at him in astonishment.

I personally feel that this is a bad attitude as a civil servant and a personnel working in servicing the society. I'd like to put forward a few reason to support my view.

1. It is a right for the patient to know what exactly is the thing they put into their mouth and into their stomach, or commonly known as Consumer Right,

2. It is against the guideline of Health Ministry to explain in details all kind of medication given to the patient,

3. The person he scold might have more knowledge than the MA himself since there are so many doctors and pharmacist all around us, going to emergency ward as a public. This situation will particularly shame himself and even the department.

4. Maybe that MA doesn't even know the name of the medicine so he scold the patient for asking instead of telling the name of the medicine. I don't doubt this possibility since i saw his uncertainty when prescribing medicine.

The lesson here is : don't ever underestimate someone, they might be much better than us.

Cheers for the day!
